Suspect Detained In Double Fatal Lakewood Shooting: Prosecutor

A judge has ordered that a suspect in a double fatal shooting on the Jersey Shore remain detained, authorities said.

Tyshaun Drummond, 39, of Toms River, shall remain in the Ocean County Jail pending trial on two counts of murder, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said on Friday.

Drummond is charged in connection with the shooting deaths of Nicholas Hardy, 36, of Toms River, and Sergio Chavez-Perez, 32, of Lakewood, in the early morning hours of Dec. 19, 2021,  in Lakewood Township, the prosecutor said.

Drummond also is charged with burglary and weapons offenses, Billhimer said.

Drummond has been held in the Ocean County Jail since his release from a local hospital on Dec. 21, 2021. 

The detention hearing was handled by Assistant Prosecutor Brandon DeJesus.
